Score Counter for Lone Wolf — A project to make your journey through Gamebooks even more immersive
Anyone familiar with the legendary Lone Wolf saga by the late Joe Dever knows how much every choice matters: a battle won or lost can change the entire course of the adventure! That’s why I needed a practical, functional score counter — something that would let me quickly update game stats without interrupting the reading flow too much.
There are already some great projects like this online, but none specifically designed for Lone Wolf. So, I decided to create my own: a score counter dedicated to the saga, but easily adaptable to other role-playing games or gamebooks as well.
A fun and accessible DIY design
Since I don’t own an AMS, I wanted to keep the project colorful yet easy to print — a DIY approach within everyone’s reach. The goal is to have fun while assembling it, without running into steps that are too complex or frustrating. You can choose to print a more “essential” version or get creative and customize it however you like.
During the design process, I might’ve gotten a bit carried away… but after all, that’s part of the maker spirit! 😄
Goal: Smooth gameplay and total immersion
The main purpose isn’t just to keep track of points, but to make reading and playing smoother and more immersive. Thanks to the score counter, you won’t have to constantly stop reading to manually update your Action Chart — you can do it with a simple gesture, without breaking the flow of the adventure.
Of course, the classic record sheet remains essential for noting down other details… because changing the game too much just wouldn’t be very Kai-like!
What’s included in the project
The model, weighing around 89 grams, consists of:
🔹 A “Combat Record” score counter, featuring– two dials for Lone Wolf’s Endurance Points,– two for the Enemy’s,– indicators, and a divider for clear, precise reference.
🔹 A Combat Ratio counter, paired with– a 10-sided die mounted on a ball bearing, perfect for replacing the traditional Random Number Table.Includes arrows, indicators, and decorative details for an epic touch.
Printing and customization
The model can be printed in single or multiple colors, even without an AMS, thanks to preset filament-change pauses in the print files.
The project is also highly modular: you can adjust the length of the central pins where the scoring dials rotate — adding or removing them to fit other game systems. To do so, simply select the part in Bambu Studio, press “S”, uncheck “Uniform Scale”, and adjust the desired size along the Z-axis.
An assembly PDF guide is included to walk you step by step through the build process.
If this project proves useful or inspires you to create your own, I’ll be truly happy!Happy printing… and may the power of the Kai be with you!
Attention, for the spin it says you need n.1 ball bearing mod MR128ZZ which can be purchased on the Bambulab Marketplace.
