Description

I’ve re-engineered the original Left-Hand-Drive Mazda 3 Commander Switch Bracket (originally designed by @Tereius) and developed a Right-Hand-Drive version through several prototype iterations until it was truly fit-for-purpose for the Mazda 3 (2014–2019, BM/BN).

Over time, the Commander Switch / Commander Knob can start to sag below the trim panel or even drop into the centre console. This typically happens from repeated downward pressure on the knob and buttons, or when something heavy lands on the module. Once that happens, the buttons and volume dial become difficult to operate—or the whole unit can fall inside the console.

The root cause is Mazda’s original design: the Commander Switch mounts to the panel trim using only three fragile plastic clips that are prone to fatigue and breakage.

🔧 The Fix

This issue can be solved easily by 3D-printing a reinforcement bracket that re-uses the existing four screws securing the panel trim to the centre console.

The bracket provides much stronger mechanical support for all Commander Switch modules in this family:
BHN1-66-CM0B / C / D, GMJ6-66-CM0A, and BHSA-66-CM0B.

Note that the bracket geometry differs between Right-Hand-Drive (RHD) and Left-Hand-Drive (LHD) vehicles, so download the version that matches your car.
