Intrinsic Motivation Card – English

This printable 3D sign conveys one of my life lessons, stating “Intrinsic motivation makes us human, extrinsic motivation makes us slaves.”  

The message reminds us that we act most humanly when driven by inner passion, curiosity, or a sense of purpose – like pursuing a hobby purely for the joy it brings or doing a job we perceive as a calling. Extrinsic motivation, by contrast, arises from external rewards, pressures, or fear of punishment, such as money, grades, or social approval. The quote serves as a warning: those who live solely by these external cues gradually surrender their autonomy, becoming enslaved to systems, authorities, or algorithms.

Print Instructions

For the best contrast and readability, use a matte filament for the text. For the photographs, I used Bambu PLA Matte White.

If you do not have an AMS: 

• Start printing with black filament. 
• After 5 layers, the printer will pause and prompt you. 
• Change the filament to white and 
• Make the printer continue.
