Description

YOU NEED

  • 0.4 mm nozzle
  • 9h print time
  • 285 g (black) filament

THE IDEA

I needed a film scanner for some 35mm negative film I had laying around and for a lot of 50*50mm mounted film slides. I searched for a solution compatible with my phone, but I couldn't be satisfied with the results I found. So I measured the focal point of the iPhone 16 Pro lense (approximately 17 cm) and started to design a phone based scanner adjusted to my needs (sturdy but lightweight and quickly disassembled for storage or traveling). I cut my negative film to fit into film slides, but maybe I or someone else will add an attachment for long film stripes in the future.

Picture resolution: 1130 x 740px (0.8 MP)

TIPS

  • If you don't need to disassemble the scanner often, use masking tape to secure glue the structural parts together.
  • I use the “Halide Mark II - Pro Camera” App

FILAMENTS I USED

  • JAYO PLA Matte - Black

I'll be printing it later today, it's the closest I found to what I need. - Is the height fixed or adjustable? - I'll try to adapt an existing film holder to it

The height is fixed, because the iPhone 16 Pro's camera starts to focus at a distance of around 17 cm. I now added .step files for you. I designed this model to theoretically be able to also scan longer film rolls, by using another insert, I just didn't get around designing one yet. Maybe this design choice makes things easier for you. Feel free to share pictures of your modifications when you get them to work :)

Great idea! How would the stand's layout need to be adjusted to use an iPhone 17 Pro Max

I don't know the dimensions and camera specifications of the 17 Pro Since I generously sized the dimensions for the 16 Pro, I simply adjusted the component so that the bar of the 17 Pro can theoretically fit, and uploaded it as a print profile Feel free to print the part, see if it fits, and then let me know here in the comments
