Sigma Art 14-24mm Hood Mod (Non-disruptive)

The Sigma Art 14–24mm DG HSM is among the finest ultra-wide-angle lenses ever produced. Its large image circle extends well beyond the full-frame format it was designed for, making it suitable for use on larger sensors such as the Fujifilm GFX.

When mounted on such systems, however, the built-in hood begins to intrude into the frame at focal lengths wider than approximately 17mm.

Few users realize that the original hood can be manually unscrewed. This modification takes advantage of the existing threaded metal ring, allowing a 3D-printed adapter ring to be securely fitted. The result maintains full image coverage and a clean, integrated appearance. A compatible front cap is included, as the original cap would otherwise make contact with the front element once the hood is removed. When needed, the hood can be mounted back just by unscrewing the modded ring and installing the hood back, aligning the “made in Japan” marking with the lens focusing window. 

A future update may include a magnetic front cap and a magnetic sliding hood system for added convenience.
