Description

All my models come with STEP files and Fusion 360 project files for customization.

This enclosure is an(other) outdoor enclosure for WisBlock.

The enclosure is not using any gaskets, it is inspired by the Takachi OB enclosure series. It is “rain-proof” if mounted in the correct orientation. This means, there is no IPxx rating, you cannot submerge this enclosure into water, but it has proven to withstand heavy rains, even with gist coming nearly horizontal against the enclosure walls.

 

It is improved based on my experience with its predecessors RAK WisBlock Outdoor concept WisMesh Repeater and RAK WisBlock Outdoor concept wide.

 

As used outdoors, it is strongly recommended to print with PETG, ABS, ASA or other materials that can withstand higher temperatures and UV exposure.

 

For assembly, please check the provided assembly guide, as some parts can be tricky to understand, specially the ways the antenna and the solar panel is connected.

 

Material

  • ABS filament (or other filament that can withstand high temperatures and UV exposure
  • 3 self tapping screws, ∅ 2mm, 5-6mm length for enclosure assy
  • 4 self tapping screws, ∅ 2mm, 5-6mm length for solar panel carrier
  • Solar panel connector cable RAKwireless SKU 910116
  • ~30-40 cm wires for solar panel cable extension
  • shrink tube for cable protection

  • M8 connector (optional)

This enclosure comes in 8 variants (sorted by print plates in the print profile), trying to offer the best solutions for different use cases.

It offers alternative usage of a solar panel and an external antenna (this time mounted at the top of the enclosure).

  • Enclosure with an external antenna mount
  • Enclosure with an external antenna mount and vents to give airflow to sensors
  • Enclosure with the option to mount a solar panel
  • Enclosure with an external antenna mount and the option to mount a solar panel

  • Enclosure with the option to mount a solar panel and vents to give airflow to sensors

In addition a selection of 5 mounting plates are provided for different WisBlock Base Boards

For the solar panel mounting, two print profiles are available for solar panels with a size of 140 x 90 x 2.5 mm and 180 x 80 x 2.5 mm. On request other solar panel options can be added.
