Brief History of the Site

• The Brandenburg Gate was built between 1788 and 1791 in the Neoclassical style based on designs by Carl Gotthard Langhans.
• The Quadriga by Johann Gottfried Schadow (1793) depicts the goddess of victory – transported to Paris by Napoleon in 1806, returned to Berlin in 1814.
• In the 19th century, Pariser Platz developed into a prestigious urban address; to the west, the Platz des 18. März opens up to the Tiergarten.
• Between 1961 and 1989, the Gate was located in the border strip of the Berlin Wall and was impassable; it reopened on December 22, 1989.
• Today, it is Berlin's most famous landmark and a symbol of German unity.

Description:

Detailed, multi-color printable city model of the area around the Brandenburg Gate. It depicts, among other things, Pariser Platz with its surrounding buildings (e.g., Hotel Adlon, Academy of Arts, embassies), the access roads via “Unter den Linden” and Ebertstraße, Platz des 18. März, as well as paths, green spaces, and water basins at the edge of the Tiergarten. The model is suitable as a decorative display piece, teaching material, or gift for Berlin and architecture enthusiasts. An optional nameplate (“Brandenburg Gate/Berlin/Germany”) and a tilted display stand are included.
