🌟 Model Building Turntable (Lazy Susan) – Practical for Painting and Display đŸ› ïž

01/10/2026

V1: Pin for the base plate's ball bearing corrected.

V2: New reinforced variant of the turntable

This turntable I designed is the ideal, simple tool for your craft table. It offers a basic rotating function – perfect for easily turning your models when painting them or for simply displaying them from all sides.

🔧 Construction & Assembly

  • The top plate is stable and provides a good bearing seat
  • The base plate / stand also offers a precise fit for the bearing. I have added holes there to optimize material consumption somewhat
  • Simple Design: Robust, uncomplicated construction that is easy to print.
  • Stable Stand: Flat base for secure grip on the workbench.

⚙ Required Accessories for Assembly:

For the rotating function, only a standard ball bearing is required:

  • 1x Type 608 ball bearing (Standard size, e.g., for skateboards or fidget spinners).

The bearing is pressed into the central recess of the turntable (white). Then the turntable is placed onto the central pin of the base (black).

⚠ Notes:

  • Due to the central 608 ball bearing, the plate has a certain "flex". Parts must be positioned as centrally as possible.

đŸ› ïž Printing Recommendations

  • Material: PLA (Tested) – The profile is optimized for this material.
  • Layer Height: 0.2 mm recommended.
  • Infill: 15% (sufficient, as the parts do not bear heavy loads).

Have fun building and painting your models! 🚀

Thank you! It's a simple but very useful design, I printed the v2 and my 608zz bearing went without any trouble!

does it work with 608-2RS: Rubber seals on both sides for superior contamination resistance.

Hey, dimensionally it should fit well. It will just rotate a little less smoothly, since the 2RS wheels have a slightly higher rotational resistance.

The bottom part doesn't go into the ball bearing it just rests on it Does it have to be this way wouldn't it be better if the pin also went into the ball bearing perhaps a rounded tip The turntable works it can be used

Thank you for the review Normally the pin should fit well into the bearing I intentionally designed it a bit tighter so it doesn't sit too loosely sometimes it helps to briefly heat the pin with a lighter and then push the bearing onto it If needed I can also create a version with more play

I just reloaded and looked at the current print project and realized that I had a cut in the construction of the base, which cut off the pin for the bearing. Now I understand the problem that several people had. V2 will be completely revised and uploaded today!

I noticed that the constructed pin was not present in the print profile at all. Apologies for the error. I have now corrected and updated it. However, an reinforced version of the turntable will also be released during the day. Thank you for the rating!

The ball bearing central hole is 7.95-8mm, the pin on the bottom part of the model is over 9mm in diameter, which is way too much for a tight fit.

I found that the constructed pin was not present in the print profile at all. The diameter you described was merely the shoulder that represents the base (support for the inner ring). Apologies for the error. I have now corrected and updated it. However, an reinforced version of the turntable will also be uploaded later today

Other Issues:Sorry, but I can't rate this model 5 stars just for the effort. The base part cannot be installed to the inner part of the bearing because the shaft diameter is way too big for pressure fit. Like, 1.5+mm too big, which means there's no way you can get a 608 bearing to sit on it. Melting the shaft to make it fit is not an option. There's not enough ground clearance for the top part of the turntable considering it's amount of flex.
Strength Issue:The top part flexes too much even with 100% infill. The base flexes too much as well due to its design. No ribs added for strength.

Thank you for the rating and constructive criticism I have just created a revised version in which I have tried to implement many of your recommendations The new version is currently printing and will be tested tomorrow If it works well I will update the turntable and let you know here
