BambuLab P2S

External side spool holder, simple and sturdy! Easy to print and with the original filament guide.

Hello friends, even on this new P2S, the external spool holder wasn't right for me. I must say they've improved the one provided quite a bit, but it doesn't meet my space requirements. In fact, the original spool holder causes the spool to protrude from the back of the printer's profile, so if the printer is placed on a shelf, as in my case, it's not possible to insert the spool. So I designed a spool holder that can be attached using the same holes as the provided one and can also utilize the filament guide rod supplied with the original spool holder.

The print is simple to make; the model has several infill modifiers to ensure strength in high-stress areas. The main arm is assembled using 2 M3x12mm screws (M3x10mm also work), while the tube for the spool screws on via the M18 thread integrated into the female thread on the arm. The thread turns are designed to allow tightening to finish with the slot facing upwards, so you can insert the original filament guide rod into it without the need for other tools or screws.

Removing the tube is also quick and requires no tools, so if you don't want to use the external spool, you can easily unscrew the tube, thus reducing its bulk.

As indicated by BambuLab, the spool holder has 3 possible mounting zones: 1, 2, and 3. Mine is mounted in position 2, on the poop chute side.

Use the Position 1 profile for mounting on the buffer tube inlet side

Use the Position 2 profile for mounting on the waste poop chute side

This arm holder is not compatible with position 3!

I printed it in PETG HF, but PLA works perfectly fine too. If you want more robustness, go for ABS or ASA.

I hope you like it and find it useful.

I'm sorry Is the PETG used the original Bambu? Because the profile is created with that. Could it be that it's a bit humid

The truth is it's newly installed and it's Bambulab On the other hand the screws don't reach I've used the original ones from the original mount and it's impossible for the outer one to reach Have you used the original ones from the outer mount

No, I did not use the original screws, the description states the screws I used. Two M3X12. If I had made the attachment as thin as the original, it would have broken easily. Regarding the print defect, I do not know what to say, the photos of the red part I assembled are made with PETG HF Bambu Red and absolutely do not have those defects as shown in the attached photo still on the print bed. Did you download the model as an STL or 3MF, or did you use the profile (without modifying anything) that I uploaded with the modifiers? For infill and loop

Perfect print, position 2 I bought M3 x10 screws but they don't fit in position 2. Do they have to be special? I'm attaching a photo of the ones I have and they don't work. Thank you for your work

Hello, thank you for choosing my model. The screws should be fine, you can compare the pitch and diameter with those provided with the original spool holder, which are just shorter. The positions indicated in the description photo are those given by Bambulab, you can find the photo with the positions on the P2S wiki. As replied to another user, you might need to tap the smaller hole for an M3 thread. I got the P2S as soon as it came out and my holes were already threaded, it might be that Bambulab changed something in the design with new productions, I can't tell you precisely. You are the second user to complain about this problem, so I assume not all P2S are 100% identical. Another tip, if you don't have an M3 tap, try screwing the screws into the holes without the bracket, so as to tap the hole with the screw and then later mount the bracket with new screws. We await feedback. Thank you

Great print. Nice a smooth in petg here. Dried filament before, of course. Used the m3x12mm as instructed. Perfect fit. Tight at first, but went straight in after a stern talk.

In what sense, it's designed to follow the printer lines, do you have a picture to better understand what defect you encountered

Sure! Please take it as a positive comment. :) I have tried several supports and they fit better with the printer's curve, I don't have a photo of it, but if I put it together with another one I have tried and finally adapted. It uses less material, and also the adjustment holes for screwing to the printer fit perfectly with the design

hello, no problem, calm down, if the criticisms are constructive they are always welcome. I saw the differences between my support and the one for comparison, I'll explain how I thought of it. I made the holes for the screws in order to compensate for any differences between different models and series, it had already happened to me with the p1s that some components were not the same as other p1s. The bracket you compare uses less material, mine is designed to resist and distribute the weight differently, with ribs and various reinforcements
