Are you also tired of the thin cardboard box of Costco KIRKLAND 231m plastic wrap? It always gets wet, breaks, or gets crushed quickly

This 3D printed casing is a perfect, custom-made solution for the KIRKLAND 231m large roll plastic wrap. It is sturdy and durable, permanently replacing the original cardboard box, allowing you to enjoy a smooth, stable experience every time you use plastic wrap.

I really like this Costco KIRKLAND 231m plastic wrap; it's durable and generous in quantity. But its packaging box is a disaster! The original cardboard box easily gets damp and soft, causing the entire box to move when pulling out the plastic wrap, and the cutting is not clean. I designed this casing to completely solve this problem.

Key Features:

  • Sturdy and Durable: Printed with PETG or PLA+, it is much sturdier than the original cardboard box, not afraid of water or oil.
  • Perfect Fit: Specifically designed for KIRKLAND 231m large roll plastic wrap, with precise dimensions.
  • Utilizes Original Cutter Bar: This design allows for perfect transplantation of the original plastic wrap box's Slide Cutter, ensuring clean and safe cutting.
  • Stable Experience: The box itself has some weight, making it less prone to sliding when pulling out plastic wrap, for a more pleasant operation.
  • Modular Design: The box is printed in 2 parts, making it convenient for smaller printers, and easily assembled with conical positioning.

Assembly Instructions:

  1. Securely bond the two components with 401 glue.
  2. Carefully remove the white slide cutter from the original cardboard box.
  3. Slide the cutter into the slot reserved on the printed part from the side.
  4. Place the KIRKLAND plastic wrap roll into the box.
  5. Close the lid
  6. Start enjoying it!

This was the best model I could find for this print. The issue is that we have a 3000 square foot mega roll from Costco. I resized X, Y to scale to fit the holder to that box and scaled Z to make it slightly longer. I actually made Z about an inch too long but filled the space to create the compression that was needed to hold it together. The cap was probably a mm off if that, but i shaved off some plastic and made it work!! Thank you!

For this same 3000 square foot mega roll, we scaled X and Y to 200.00. And we scaled Z to 103.3. With these settings, the plastic end pieces that came with the roll did not fit, but the roll fits fine. Although, the Z came out a bit long so we added just cardboard pieces inside for compression.

I finally found a GREAT print file model to fit and replace the 500 square-ft. stretch-tite carboard dispenser that everyone knows doesn't last... I've seen several models that are either flimsy, overkill, or impractical so I put efforts on hold until I stumbled upon this (new to Me) design... As soon as I saw it, I downloaded, tweaked it to mirror a color schema I did with another aluminum and parchment paper dispensers I already got printed about a year ago. Design is REALLY GOOD! I love the fact that it has a ROBUST construction and includes a tight/secure slot to incorporate the slider-film cutter that comes included in original stretch-tite product (way better than the serrated edge built into the carboard box packaging dispenser). Awesome Practical Design! Thanks for Sharing :-)

Do you have to attach the metal cutter itself from the original or just the plastic slider?

You only need to attach the plastic slider

Much more solid and usable design than others that I found. Just a couple of minor issues that I needed to modify: The guide "spikes" don't fully fit into the matching holes on the other half. So I had to file them down. I also had to file the ends of the slots that the plastic slider inserts into, as well as the plastic slider "rail" itself. The slots weren't quite long enough for the rail. Other than that, it works great.

I had difficulty gluing the two parts together, and in the end I didn't succeed, as the pins did not enter their seats correctly, leaving a gap between the two pieces. Furthermore, the plastic lip between the film exit mouth and the seat for the cutter is extremely fragile, so much so that it broke under minimal pressure. In the end, it all ended up in the trash, resulting in wasted time and material
