Description

This is my custom storage solution for this awesome 3D Catan tile set: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1238980.

There are many other storage designs out there, but I wanted something as simple and material-efficient as possible. This model is a lightweight and slim storage box, perfect for keeping your 3D-printed hexagonal Catan tiles neatly organized inside a cardboard box or similar container.

It also includes a small compartment for the ports.

For storing player tools and other game elements, I used different designs — this one focuses solely on storing the hexagonal tiles.

Since the heights of the hex tiles vary, here is the list I used. As long as your printed tiles are not taller than mine, everything should fit perfectly: (Basically I used a higher number of hexes than the original, so you are unlikely to run into a problem)

9 × Plain sea (9mm)
2 × Ports with lighthouse (26.6mm)
3 × Ports with rocks (18mm)
4 × Ports with boat (12mm)
4 × Wheat (all types same height) (19.1mm)
2 × Sheep with house (20.2mm)
2 × Sheep without house (14.3mm)
2 × Trees with house and clearing on the side (16.3mm)
2 × Trees with small mountains on the side (18.3mm)
1 × Bricks with house (23mm)
2 × Bricks without house (17.4mm)
2 × Mountain (high version, without trees) (33.9mm)
1 × Mountains (low version) (30mm)
1 × Desert (9.5mm)

Additional advantages of this model:
1) The name of the hexagon type appears on the bottom, so you don't have to figure out where each hexagon fits,
2) There is an inverted triangle at the bottom of the box so that the hexagon doesn't rub against the bottom and lose its color

I hope you find it useful and that it helps keep your 3D Catan layout neat, compact, and portable!

👋 A little note: I'm very new to 3D design and still learning from scratch, so any feedback or suggestions for improvement are welcome. If you liked this project or found it useful, please consider giving it a like 👍 - it really motivates me to keep creating and improving. Thanks!
