Description
🧩 Description
This is a custom-designed replacement hinge piece for Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones.
After testing several existing models on MakerWorld, none of them worked properly - most of them broke immediately.
So I decided to design my own version with improved geometry and better durability.
This hinge part restores full folding functionality of the ATH-M50x earcups.
It’s designed to print without supports and to be compatible with standard screws.
Assembly:
You’ll need two M2.5 × 12 mm flat-head Hexagon screws (or similar).
Printing detail:
To improve the print quality of the overhanging screw holes, a thin sacrificial layer has been added.
It helps avoid stringing or drooping during printing. This layer is intentionally very thin and can be easily pierced through with a screwdriver, awl, or directly by the screw itself.
Recommended material:
PETG (for strength and flexibility). PLA works but may be too brittle over time.
