Description

Summary

I have an old .45ACP AMT Hardballer from way back in the 1980s, and it's been one of the best weapons I've owned. I felt it was time she had a facelift. These grips will fit ANY 1911 Government (Full-Size) frame, but if you have a smaller frame or even a different weapon altogether please reach out to me and I will gladly add files for your weapon!

I designed these grips to have a dual purpose:

  1. Allow for rounds to be seen while the clip is loaded
  2. Save material

Both grips will fit on any standard 200x200 build plate together. Please make sure the models are being placed upon the plate face-down on the flat side of the grip and NO SUPPORTS NECESSARY.

I've also uploaded an .stl file for those of you looking to print SLA. If you are printing these on any SLA machine, please use the "resin.stl" file. The rest of us using FDM machines should download both the "left.stl" & "right.stl" files.

UPDATE
I went ahead and uploaded an .stl file that has both Left & Right grips in one to make slicer arrangement hassle-free for everyone! Thanks for your support!

Pretty damn cool, fits a Kimber Custom 1911, experimenting at the moment with different materials.

That's great to hear deltaflyer123! I'm eager to know how your experimenting went, and what you decided on the best material to be. Thanks so much for taking the time to make, and then comment about my model. Means a lot! Cheers!

Also, would you be okay if I used the 3 photos you commented with and uploaded them to the model to show compatibility options? I understand if you do not wish for me to use the photos, but would be incredibly grateful for your permission. Thanks!

Printed on Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2. Fits perfect across 5 different 1911 i tried it on. love the design. Great job! Ive got some stuff in the screw holes maybe its my settings. have any tips for me to get rid of those? i could just clip and sand. id prefer to just print it perfect.

Hello! So sorry you've been waiting for so long for this response, but better late than never! Seriously though, I do apologize. Anyway, I'm grateful to hear you like my grips design! As far as the stringing within the screw holes, that's a very simple fix. If you have a heated blower, or a butane torch, with EXTREME CAUTION use very short "bursts" of heat directed at the screw holes, and quickly remove the heat. It can be performed multiple times, but applying heat to plastic has some pretty serious consequences if done incorrectly. Heat will shrivel and remove those strings though. Otherwise, check your slicer settings for ways to mitigate as well, but to be perfectly honest with you the stringing you have is pretty minimal.

These almost fit a 1911 Army type. I do have hope that they would work with very slight modification however. I have a new reproduction of the original pattern and the scale on the left hand side bumps against the horizontal column where the thumb safety is. I plan to learn some modeling software later and may give it a try. Otherwise I liked the concept pretty well.
