Description

🪵 A Relic of Burkittsville

An eerie, primitive vessel inspired by the legends of the Blair Witch. Twisted, bound, and carved with haunting sigils, it feels less crafted than conjured — a relic from the Black Hills themselves. Perfect as a centerpiece or Halloween display, this vase channels the unsettling energy of Burkittsville’s darkest stories.

This piece is designed for straightforward printing without supports, with an organic, asymmetrical form that appears woven from branches and bound with sinew. It prints cleanly in a standard orientation and is suitable for most FDM printers without modification.

🧪 Watertightness & Preparation

Due to the nature of 3D printing, achieving a truly watertight vase can be challenging. The walls of A Relic of Burkittsville are intentionally designed at 4 perimeters with 6 bottom layers to improve resistance to seepage, but sealing the interior surface with a thin layer of epoxy, polyurethane, or a similar coating is still recommended if you intend to fill the vase with water.

šŸ’” Tip: If you plan to seal the interior, you may safely reduce the wall count back to a standard 2 perimeters to conserve material and print time, or reduce layers if the vase will be used purely as a decorative piece.

🧓 Material Choice: If you do not plan to seal the interior, printing in PETG (or another water-resistant filament) is highly recommended. PLA will slowly degrade and become brittle with long-term water exposure.

šŸŽØ Finishing Notes

The model shown here was finished using a dark brown acrylic paint wash. The paint was applied generously to the surface and then wiped away with a paper towel while still wet, leaving pigment in the carved details and recesses. This simple technique produces a worn, weathered finish that enhances the vessel’s aged, ritualistic character — perfect for evoking the feel of a cursed artifact lost to time.
