Planetary Gearbox 5:1 Double Helical Nema17
Print Profile(1)

Description
A strong, compact gearbox for NEMA 17 stepper motors. It uses a double helical gear design that is printed as one piece ( in place ), which is the only way to make it work ( It is impossible to assemble a double helical planetary gearbox in any other way.) . This design is special because it removes the side-push force (axial thrust), meaning you don't need extra bearings to handle that force, making the model simpler. The ~ 5:1 gear ratio gives your motor a huge boost in torque
Feel free to increase the number of walls and infill for a stronger result.
Don't disassemble the gears; There is no way to put it back together.
After printing, try to move the gears before using them. PLA and PETG print differently with different tolerances, but both have worked. PETG gave a better tolerance.
Apply some grease lubricant.
You need 4 * M3 3+mm for mounting the motor and M2.5 or M3 12mm+ screws.
