This is a model of the United States Military SM-3 Ballistic Missile Interceptor. The model has a detachable Mk-72 booster. The missile is fired from the Aegis Combat System onboard navy ships such as Arleigh Burke destroyers. The missiles can be also launched from land. The first SM-3 version completed its first test in 1999 and has been in service since 2004. The multistage missile uses a kinetic warhead to intercept ballistic missiles and can even intercept satellites. It is developed by Ratheon.
