White Sand Omnibus Hardcover - Book Shoe - Cosmere
Print Profile(1)

Description
I am currently designing book shoes for all of Brandon Sanderson's Leatherbounds, Secret Projects, Curiosities, and other big books - to see all of my available designs, check out my collection here.
Brandon Sanderson's Premium Edition Cosmere books are BEAUTIFUL, but one of the biggest issues that can plague them is page sagging if the books are stored upright. Due to the pages being super heavy, over time, it's possible for the binding to sag.
ENTER THE BOOK SHOE! A handy tool that literally holds up the pages of a book to prevent gravity from pulling the binding away from the spine of the book.
For many years, the Sanderson collecting community has made their own, using cardboard or other arts and crafts materials, and there just hasn't been a solid solution that I could find that didn't require me to get out the scissors and glue. So I decided to design my own that can be 3d printed in two separate versions - a single piece or multiple assembled pieces.
The dimensions of this book shoe are based off dimensions I was sent of the of The White Sand Hardcover Omnibus from Dynamite Comics. I do not own this book, so I can't guarantee this will fit 100%, but I can adjust the model if this is too small or large.
I noticed that the single piece version tended to make the book cover not sit as flush to the pages as the assembly version, but also felt more solid, so I'm including both for your printing pleasure.
I've also modeled the Taldain planet symbol as a cutout in the base of the shoe, so you can know which book it goes to. Additionally, if you've downloaded any of my other book shoes, the non-leatherbound shoes are slightly thinner at the base than the Leatherbounds, so be sure you're using the right one with the desired book!
THIS IS THE V2 VERSION WITH A SLIMMER BASE

AMS & NON AMS SINGLE
.2mm Layer Height
75% Infill

I printed my original Mistborn book shoe at 75% infill to strengthen the side walls mostly, but in designing this one, I was able to go to 15% infill and it seems to be holding up okay. You may want to play around with the infill % to your liking, but I think 15% does just fine for the cut-out pieces. .
Model printed in Sunlu Silk black and Bambu PLA Basic Jade White; model in photos uses AMS settings.
PLEASE NOTE: PLA is considered to be inert and acid-free once printed, but you may want to consider coating yours in Archival Spray or something similar if you're extra particular about the long term quality of the pages. I can't promise this won't damage a page over time, but I've also had several prototypes on my Leatherbounds and have yet to see any damage.
