Description

11/20 Update 4: Small connector track and rail added to allow for more track layout flexibility. It was brought to my attention that there was a small gap in the track if you printed the suggested number of pieces. I mistakenly put the wrong number down in the instructions and the layouts didn't quite line up with that specified number of tracks. This small connector track eliminates this gap and should allow for more flexibity when determining your track layouts.

11/19 Update 3: Thin tracks temporarily taken down. Someone who printed the thin track start set was unable to have the tracks align. I am currently printing out the set to see if I can reproduce the issue. I will reupload the thin tracks when I get the issue sorted out.

Update 2: Thin Tracks for Starter Set and Expansion Pack 1 is available now. I have had requests for a thinner version of the tracks. I uploaded a thin version of both the starter set and expansion pack 1. These tracks are now 50% thinner to help save on filament. I hope that you enjoy!

Update: Expansion Pack 1 Ramps and Double Rail Tracks is available now. Print out these new pieces to add excitement and ramp up the difficulty to your Flick Car games. Be on the lookout for even more exciting additions in the future!

Elevate family game night with Flick Car! This fully 3D printed take on a classic game brings all of the racing excitement and thrills to your tabletop. In Flick Car, players take turns flicking their racecar discs around the track as fast as possible without crashing or flying off the track. The first player to complete 3 laps the fastest wins!

This Flick Car Starter set includes all of the essentials that you will need to get game night going. You just need to print out 5 standard straight tracks and rails, 1 Start/Finish line track piece and rail, 12 Curved track pieces with 24 curved rails, as many race car discs as you need (up to 8 are suggested), and any number of leveling shims necessary to make your track as smooth as can be. (Note: You can make a complete track with as few as 2 straights and 4 curves for a basic oval track. you can use any even number of straight tracks for this as well. Other layouts that I have found to work without the small connecter track piece are as follows: 4 straights and 8 curves, 8 straights and 12 curves, and 6 straights and 16 curves. The provided connector piece should add more flexibility to your layouts but it wont make every combination work). Determine a starting player, either randomly or by completing a qualifying lap (player who completed the lap in the fewest flicks possible goes first), and then you are off to the races! A full set of rules can be found in the attached PDF.

Some notes on printing and assembly: I printed my tracks face down on a textured plate. I found the textured surface works well for having the discs glide over the surface. I have brims turned on in my profile but if you can get by without using them I would highly recommend it. My printers are currently located in my garage in Alaska, and I was experiencing some warping of the track and rail pieces. Don't worry if there is a little warping; I included some leveling shims to help with this issue.

If you print with brims turned on, you will likely need a de-burring tool to remove the brims from the ends of the track connectors, and I found the Bambu Lab scraping tool effective in removing the brim from the rail slot. The tolerances are intentionally tight to help keep the pieces fitting snugly, so it is essential that you remove the brims completely. After you remove the brims, slide the rails into the slots on the track. The first time you insert the rails into the slot, it will likely be difficult, but I found that tight tolerances are needed to keep the rails from coming out of the slots with impacts from the discs. You can use as many or as few track pieces as you would like, and I would encourage you to experiment with different track layouts to find one that your family likes best.

Be on the lookout for future expansions; I am already working on ramps and 2-rail track segments. I encourage feedback, so please let me know if there are any other ideas you would like to add to the game. I hope you enjoy this game and that it brings joy to your tabletops!
