Description

Dummy13 may not have the right stuff to go to the moon, but that's OK, it's a robot (I think). With this astronaut remix, Dummy13 will be ready to be strapped to a rocket for a trip to the moon and beyond. For some reason I included a backpack and a helmet, but don't over think it (I didn't). Maybe the pack is for extra batteries or something? In any case Dummy13 will look just like a real astronaut, while performing those dangerous one way missions to places humans dare not go.

If you want to remix this, I've included a STEP file to make things easier. If you remix it elsewhere, please post a comment here with a link, so I can check it out.

And big thanks to Soozafone for the awesome Dummy13 model, which this is remixed from! If this remix is not for you, the Dummy 13 model, and it's other remixes are definitely worth a look (and a like).  Please grab the “Individual frame parts” from the Dummy 13 model to use with these remixed parts.

The files are organized into folders to keep the parts associated with each piece together.

Printing and other stuff:

  1. The parts here are designed with an AMS/MMU in mind. I have included the 3mf profiles for a Bambu X1C, which are pre-colorized and set up to print with similar settings to what I used. I printed 6 of these at a time though, to save on purged material.
  2. Due to slicer restrictions, there are two .3MF files.  This is because I set up some models to print without a prime tower, and some with a prime tower.  This was done to speed up printing and save material.  You will need both 3mf profiles, they are:
    X1C_Astro_V53_AMS_Most_Parts_w_Prime.3mf
    X1C_Astro_V42_AMS_no_Prime.3mf

  3. If you find there is color bleed on the parts without a purge tower, raise the flushing volume multiplier.
  4. I left the layer height as 0.2mm on all parts in the .3mf files.  The helmet uses a variable layer height, which requires printing on it's own plate due to slicer restrictions when using prime towers.
  5. The supports are painted where they are needed (on the helmets).
  6. There are two versions of the helmet, one is designed for multicolor, and the other can be glued together.  They are both included, so just remove the parts you don't want to print.  If printing one model, I recommend the split helmet model, to save on print time and material.
  7. This model will require all of the frame parts, and most of the armor parts from the original Dummy13 model. If you use the .3mf files, I have included the required armor parts for convenience, but please get the frame parts from the original Dummy 13 model.
  8. It's best to print the frames on these Dummy 13 models in PETG, otherwise they can turn into ragdolls when using PLA (thanks to MK4_Expert (at Printables) for that tip!).  The armor can be printed in PLA without a problem.
  9. For the included 3mf profile, I had the colors set up as follows:

Slot 1. PLA - White

Slot 2. PLA - Blue

Slot 3. PLA - Gray

Slot 4. PLA - Red

There is now an Astronaut Tools Kit available, with some tools and extra hands, which you can find here.

Update 2/26/2024: There is a minor update to the backpacks, which now have a longer peg.  The profiles have been updated with this changes as well.

If you want to add a cool “Photon Cannon” for your Astronaut, check out ntdesign's DUMMY 13 Lamp (250% scale).

If you find these models useful, please post a like or a comment with some pics of your prints.
