Pilot iPad Mini 6/7 Kneeboard
This is a 3D-printable kneeboard designed specifically for the iPad Mini 6 and 7, giving pilots a rugged and stable way to mount their EFB on the thigh during flight. The design balances low weight with strength and cockpit comfort.
Model Details
- Dimensions: 199.5 × 151.7 × 28.3 mm
- Volume: ≈ 118 cm³ (≈ 118 mL of filament)
- Surface Area: ≈ 720 cm²
- Triangles: 6,538 (clean mesh, watertight and manifold)
- Strap Slot: 40 mm wide, suitable for standard elastic or hook-and-loop straps (not included :))
Design Features
- Contoured tray securely fits iPad Mini 6/7
- iPad Mini will be difficult to put in at first but it will fit - very secure
- Forward rake for better screen visibility and reduced glare
- Smooth chamfers and rounded corners for comfort in tight cockpits
- Cable clearance left and right for charging or headset cords
- All ports, switches, speakers and wireless charge for Pencil accessible
- Reinforced underside contoured ribs to add stiffness without extra bulk
- Back ribs are contoured to reduce side to side movement
Print Recommendations
- Orientation: Standing as in the 3MF file with minimal supports already in place
- Supports: Minimal (set already in 3MF)
- Layer height: 0.2 mm standard (0.28 mm draft works fine)
- Infill: 15 – 25 % gyroid or Adaptive Cubic (default in 3MF)
- Material: PETG or ASA for cabin heat resistance; PLA acceptable for cooler conditions
- Nozzle: 0.4
Assembly
Feed a 40 mm strap through the slot to secure around the thigh. A thin layer of foam or non-slip tape on the underside can add grip and comfort. Such as this from Amazon.

- .step file if you need to make any adjustment (Wider strap slot etc.)
