Description
When I reupholstered my headliner all the tabs on my old handle/vent broke up leaving the original piece useless. The piece is impossible to find for a reasonable price in black since it is discontinued. I created a small one to hold me over until I model the entire piece. This is simple and no frills, I needed something to open and close the shade and this does just that.
Currently installed in an Audi B5.
Printed in PETG I have seen no issues. I tried ASA but the tabs were a bit fragile but I'm sure it could work. I will keep testing and upload a print profile once I have it dialed in.
This THEORETICALLY should work for several other cars as well. The original part number of the entire sunroof cover is 8D0877255C and it is listed for 1999 - 2018 VW and AUDI. The piece is usually not available separately. If you print it for those cars let me know how it turns out!
This needs to be printed with supports.
For those curious about the headliner -- the headliner material is Hiksuky suede off amazon. It is cheap and looks OK, better in photos than real life. Real life it does look fairly cheap but better than the saggy mess it was before. There is no stretch in the fabric so it was very tough to mold to the headliner. I used 3M headliner and fabric adhesive.
I am working on modeling the entire piece and I'll upload it once I have it.
