CyberBrick Motor Box for Mini Train Diorama

Here it is — after countless revisions, extensive testing, and plenty of optimization: the CyberBrick-compatible motor and remote system for my Mini Train Diorama series!

Every diorama from the already large collection is fully compatible. You can connect up to four dioramas to the motor box, and all four trains can be controlled individually through the control panel.

It’s amazing how much fun this project has brought to my son and me! 100% recommendation for every Mini Train fan!

Features Motorbox:

• Choose any four Mini Dioramas from the collection
• Individual Speed and Direction for each Diorama
• 2x DC Motor and 2x 360° Servo used
• LED Volcano
• ON/Off Switch on the outside
• 2 large compartments and a train holder inside
• Designed flat as possible (receiver in angle)
• Battery is good to reach

Features Remote:

• Each Joystick steers a Diorama 
• Mechanical locking solution - switch between direct and clamp mode
• Stepless speed back and forth
• Button for LED
• 3-Way Switch for a random program
• Staus LED shines in CyberBrick Logo through the “monitor”
• ON/Off Switch on the outside
• Battery is easy to reach
• Little Indicator mark

Maker Supply Info:

The maker supply part list (BOM) is prepared for 1 remote and 1 motor box. I added also the CyberBrick Ultimate Hardware Kit as alternative. 

You get all parts you need with the ultimate Kit, only 2 Single axle Joysticks are missing, but you can use the included dual axle joysticks, as well. 

Means uncheck individual parts or the ultimate kit!

For 1 remote and 2 motor boxes the cheapest solution is: 1xUltimate kit 1x 18650 Battery 1x Power Switch 2x 360° Servo 2x Single Axis Joystick

Binding:

Additional if you want to go with the official remote, i packed a zip with a JSON File for it called: Mini Train MW OFF Remote

Motor1: Y-Axis Joystick1     Motor2: Y-Axis Joystick2

Motor3: X-Axis Joystick1     Motor4: Single Axis Joystick

Direction:

You can simple change directions (positive to negative) for the Joysticks in the CyberBrick App

Remote for Two

The JSON is prepared for up to two Boxes for each 4 Dioramas. 

You steer them simultaneous if both are on.

Random Program

A little random program is implemented and bind to the 3-way switch. The trains random stops and changes speeds.

The direction is fixed. If you want to change the direction you need to remove or add the - before (randint

   motors.set_speed(1,   (randint(360, 830)))
   motors.set_speed(2, -(randint(360, 830)))
   servos.set_speed(3, (randint(10, 55)))
   servos.set_speed(1, -(randint(10, 55)))
   

Printing:

Model prints without support . I used Basic PLA without problems.

All Parts are simple to print, but as always clean your build plate!
