Description

This custom box can hold the jumper cables for the NOCO Boost Plus GB40. It may fit other models with the same form factor. I have only confirmed the fit with the GB40. A STEP file has also been provided to allow someone to possibly modify the box for another model. My files are also available via OnShape. The clamps need to use either the included “mouthpiece” or a custom part to spread the jaws slightly. There is also room for the USB-C cable. The print should not need any support. Sample was printed with PETG. Using the box also allows you to still use the included bag that came with the jumper.

While I have some other engineering filaments I think PETG is good enough for this. Nice job. I was happy to make it and not need supports.

I must have an older model of the GB40. I had to create a mouth guard and extend the height another level in order to fit everything in the box. I believe this is because the clamps that I have are a bit larger. Still think this was a cool idea and nice design. First attempt was with ABS and that not only wasn't big enough, but warped. This one was with PETG and it worked well.

5 STAR PRINT!!! I have no idea why the print “cancelled” at 99%, but it looks just fine to me. It came out finished and works perfectly. I want to rate this at 5 stars, but the program here won’t let me go above 3 because it was a “failed” print. It’s just big enough to hold the clamps (with the bite block) and charging cable. the GB40 fits easily into the case and doesn’t come off until you intend to. I printed mine in ABS because I knew it would be sitting in my work truck. if I had any request, it would be for some sort of cap that would cover the buttons to avoid accidental activation. for some reason this thing is a bump-magnet and is always getting turned on.

I don't think you're the first person to request a button guard. If I were to do that I might just make it a case. This design was intended as a minimalistic approach.

Great print to store the jumper cables neatly

Would be helpful to have a version that mounts the GB40 upside down so that the buttons dont get accidently activated in storage

Did you try just flipping it upside down?

On my GB20, if i flip it upside down, I have a sloping edge for the clamp to catch on instead of a sharp edge. I'm assuming that is what what you are doing. For the GB20, I think the easiest way to have it stored inverted would be to have it slide into the the side of the box with the top exposed so you can retrieve the goodies and latch thru friction or other means. That would protect the buttons and label but make it hard to tell which unit you had if you had more than one NOCO (Boost, Genius, etc)

Because of the type of buttons and that I’m careful how I store it I’m not concerned about flipping it upside down. But if someone wanted to sort it out they are welcome to!

It is an awesome design. I am hoping swooshdave makes more sizes for the different model NOCO jumper.

I can't make other sizes as I don't have the other models to fit it to.

Amazon says the size of the GB20 and GB40 are the same and they sell a case that fits both.

Could you modify the file for a GB50 size? The model looks awesome I hate having that little bag.

I don't know the size and how it would fit. I did provide the STEP file and even for people who use OnShape they can access the original file.
