Description

1.5U 10" plate for Dual Gikfun 2" 3W Speakers setup

The story

After getting my Geeekpi 7.84inch screen, I wanted to add some sound. I had these 2" gikfun speakers in a drawer, perfect for a quick project! Finally, a use for those Gikfun speakers you bought a long time ago because they are so cool, but without knowing what to do with them :P

The model

There's 3 plates :

  • Speakers holder with the holes for the amp button, power button and led
  • Flat speaker holder (only the speaker holes)
  • The enclosure

The grilles are separate objects in the model, configured with zero (0) top/bottom layers. Thus, the grille pattern is controlled by the infill pattern / percentage. Feel free to give it the look you want :)

The details

I ordered this little amp from amazon. Its 1.8V - 12V, dual channel, 1/8 input, this will be perfect.

I already had an on/off 10mm switch and a 12v led in hand.

I took an old 12v power brick from a box full of old power bricks in my closet.

Obviously, two 2" / 4Ohm / 3W full range gikfun speakers.

8 self tapping M3x8mm screws.

Some kinda foam (to put in the speaker enclosures).

The difference with the enclosure is honestly surprising, its 500% worth it, the sound is a lot better. They sound great, there's bass, impressive compared to not using any enclosure.

The mini rack in the pictures is also available with a lot of accessories here on makerworld :-)
