MicroPole- Casio F91-W Mod

A minimalistic dial for the legendary Casio F-91W. Have a broken dial or strap? This simple print can give your watch a new look and revitalise it. I saw how small the watch's movement was and thought- what if I made a dial that tightly wraps around this movement to make the best use of space, giving it a completely different feel and class.

The dial just consists of one piece and your watch's movement can slip right in. After you slip it in, it doesn't come out easily unless you pry it out using a flathead screwdriver. I strongly recommend putting some sort of transparent protective layer over the exposed movement to protect it from very light splashes of water (it is obviously not water-resistant), dust, and scratches. Use a thin plastic that doesn't deform easily. In case you don't want to use a protective film, I have included a “reinforcer” that still protects your display. You could even place it on top of your protective layer to give the watch a more rugged look.

I cut out a polarised lens from movie glasses that I had lying around and placed it over the movement. When I place my thumb on the screen and twist it, I can black the entire display out- I like to call this “free mode” for when you wanna be free and not care about the time.

To ensure such a small size, I had to cut some corners, however. I didn't make any room for buttons, because they

 would increase the dial's diameter significantly. I still like to wear the watch because it looks really cool and I personally never use the stopwatch function.
