Tongue Weight Scale 3D Printed Ball Head

I have built a simple but effective nose weight gauge to safely determine the nose weight of trailers using a normal bathroom scale.

The central component is a 3D-printed ball head that is screwed onto a 1/4-inch pipe. This pipe is stably mounted with a flange on a wooden board. The entire construction is then placed on a bathroom scale to measure the actual nose weight.

Important: The height of the pipe should be adapted to the hitch height of the vehicle so that the measurement provides realistic values.

Pipe and flange are standard commercial parts and can be cheaply purchased at a hardware store.

Advantages of the solution:

• Cost-effective, as standard commercial components are used
• Easy to handle
• Space-saving storage: The pipe can be disassembled without tools and attached directly to the board with a clip holder – ideal for the workshop or car trunk

The 3D-printed ball head is precisely fitted for standard hitches and can be easily adjusted if necessary. I am happy to provide the STEP file!
