Introducing a new "Jet Joystick"-compatible aircraft: the SR-71 Blackbird! This model prints with minimal supports and assembles in two parts! I've received several requests to make more aircraft for the “Jet Joystick”, so I went ahead and made this SR-71 Blackbird.

My biggest goal when designing these aircraft is ensuring that they are easy to print and assemble. That being said, I look into ways of eliminating the need for support and keeping parts to a minimum. I hope you enjoy!

Note: this model only contains the SR-71 Aircraft, here is a link to the Jet Joystick.

Please ensure a clean build plate and dry filament before printing! I recommend using glue to hold the two halves together.

Update 10/11/2025:

Shifted cut in model and added third peg to increase stability. Fixed bad vertices in model. All pictures were updated to reflect this.

Assembly:

Feel free to reach out with modeling questions! I'm always happy to discus all things CAD!

Works awesome with the joystick! a little bit bigger of a gap between the parts than I was expecting, but that's probably just a user error. I also accidentally broke off a little bit of one of the vertical stabilizers (I think that's what it's called) so if I ever have a day where I can re-print it I will, but it isn't urgent. very deserving of five stars.

If you are looking for ideas for future planes, maybe an A-10 Warthog or KC-135 (a refueling plane).

Very good model. A childhood favorite of mine. While printing it, I realized that you shouldn’t enable the thin-wall detection option, because it messes up the tips of the wings. It’s best to leave the original settings as they are. :))

Hmm, did it snap when popping the ball and socket joints? It looks like there could be some dimensional loss and weakened z-layers due to wet filament. I think it might be a little wet because of the prevailing wisps and springing. Drying the filament for at least 12 hours may help

Hmm sorry to hear that, did you adjust any of the print settings? The line width should be .42mm wide
