Located in the heart of Pereira, facing the Plaza de Bolívar, the Cathedral of Our Lady of Poverty is an architectural and spiritual gem that represents the faith and history of the people of Pereira.
Originally built in 1875 and rebuilt in 1940, the cathedral stands out for its impressive wooden structure, considered one of the largest in Latin America made with this material. Inside, more than 1,500 wooden pieces fit perfectly without the use of nails, a craftsmanship worthy of admiration.
The image of the Virgin of Poverty, patroness of Pereira, is located on the main altar and is a reason for great devotion. Each year, thousands of visitors and pilgrims come to pay homage and enjoy the spiritual and artistic atmosphere of the place.
