Description

Add-on for KATO’s 6-leg viaduct piers (23-020 or 23-088, as well as 23-048 and 23-049). N-scale!

Having published DIY-double track piers for viaducts, someone pointed out, that the 6-leg piers are more stable, than the standard single column piers and it would be great to have an extension, to use them for a 2nd tier to. So, I created this extension. It consists of one extension with 26mm height, what fits to the distance of the lower horizontal girder of KATO’s standard pier and one of 34mm height, that brings the extension to 60mm in total, what is the needed additional height for the 2nd level.

Each tier prints upside down, and 4+2 pins are needed to connect the extension with the pier part above. I printed all with .4mm-nozzle, as well as with 0.2mm nozzle. If you have the possibility to print it with 0.2mm-nozzle, I recommend taking the time and to do so. The fitting of pins is much easier to handle than with the larger nozzle. But basically, both works.

Ones I had the pin-pattern, it wasn’t a big job to create an extension of 10mm height to bring the piers to the level of T-Trak modules, a railroad module standard heavily based on KATO’s Unitrack.

Hope you enjoy these extended possibilities to create viaducts with KATO’s great track system. Happy printing and a lot of fun with your model railway layout!

Please note:
KATO’s Unitrack is the first and only choice in n-scale for mobile layouts and one of the best track systems in general:
