3D-printed M3 smooth shaft
Print Profile(2)

Description
This collection features 3D-printable M3 smooth shafts (pins) with a diameter of 3mm, available in seven standard lengths: 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm, 20mm, 25mm, and 30mm. The models are specifically engineered for FDM 3D printing, incorporating a unique flat-lying orientation and a dual-material printing strategy to achieve optimal mechanical strength and excellent cylindrical surface finish .
Features
- Mechanical Optimization for FDM: All shafts are designed to print lying flat. This orientation aligns the printing path with the shaft's length, significantly enhancing inter-layer bonding and overall tensile strength, which is crucial for the performance of small cylindrical parts .
- Innovative Dual-Material Approach: This novel printing method uses PLA as a support structure for the PETG model body. This combination leverages the best properties of each material, producing shafts with high dimensional accuracy and a superior surface quality on the cylindrical face .
Printing Notes
- The provided 3MF files are pre-configured with each shaft length organized on a separate build plate (10 pieces per plate). Essential printing parameters and material types are already set .
- To achieve the best results and reduce print time, using a dual-extruder printer (such as an H2D) with PLA assigned to one nozzle and PETG to the other is highly recommended .
- If you are not familiar with the principles of dual-material printing, it is advisable not to alter the pre-configured settings to ensure successful prints .
A separate, freely available 3MF project file is provided for printing a dedicated storage box. This file includes two pieces each of the 12mm, 20mm, and 25mm M3 shafts, designed for convenient organization .
