Description

I made this mask many moons ago and have grown to love it.  I built it from some items I found on thingiverse, and after looking at them, I think its okay to post my own model.  If someone doesn't think thats ok, please let me know.  I have only posted work a few times that contains others' models so I hope I am doing it right.

My model is a ½ skull face mask that is designed to latch onto the face using spring loaded connections in the ear covers.  The whole mask is held on the head by a head strap.  20mm diameter tubes or other non-printed tubes are needed to complete this mask.  Since the tightness of the mask is determined by the length and type of tubing material you use, some fitment will be necessary for comfort.

I believe the model I used for the skull (it was 2+ years ago when I did this model…) is originally found HERE - i have resized and shaped it, adding material and removing material as well. Thanks @filthypawz on Thingiverse.

I believe the spring latch I used is originally found HERE.  I have redesigned the springy bit to have a different shape as well as modding the other parts quite a bit.  I suggest printing the springy bits in PETG or some other flexible, more durable, material.  Thanks @jcl5m1 on Thingiverse.

I believe the head straps are originally  found HERE.  I think I did some cutting and resizing them from their original format so that I could have the same holes and button-pop connections but straps that were longer or shorter without using % resize (which will botch the connection to the ear covers).  Thanks @Blackoakstudio on Thingiverse.

So, I hope you enjoy this mask I made using the awesome original work of these above creators.  I hope you like what I did with the model.

To make the mask you see in the pictures, you will also need:

some threaded brass M3 inserts, and some M3 screws.

Some elastic

some 5mm round rare earth magnets (optional)

round tubing of your choice about 20mm in diameter and cut to fit.

CA glue

Assembly is pretty straightforward.

Use the trapezoidal tabs to build the ear cans.

Glue the 3mm threaded brass inserts into the ear can inside.

Build the springy clip latch and then use the M3 screws to attach one to each ear can.  make sure the button on the bottom sticks out.

Glue the head strap holders into the top of the ear can.

snap head strap of your liking together and slot into the ear cans.

There are loops and clips for using elastic to have an additional rear strap (optional)

Glue your tubing choice into the mask or otherwise fix it to the skull section.  cut to length, adjust fitment etc, and then permanently attach to the latch buckle.

Mask Done!  reach out if you have any questions.

Happy Printing, and I hope you enjoy this fun build.
