Description

Bismarck and Tirpitz 1:520 scale model

The Bismarck class (KMS Bismarck and KMS Tirpitz) were the largest battleships ever built by Germany. Commissioned during World War II, they combined heavy armor protection with powerful 15-inch guns. Bismarck became famous for her dramatic sortie and sinking in 1941, while Tirpitz spent most of the war stationed in Norway, posing a constant threat to Allied convoys until her destruction in 1944. This model set includes both ships, capturing their distinctive appearance and configuration. The main differences between the two models are the rear half of the superstructure and the inclusion of torpedo tubes on the Tirpitz.

This model features rotating main and secondary battery turrets with changeable gun elevation. The assembly is fairly straightforward, and a guide is available as an attached document. A separate print profile is available for printing on an A1 mini, as well as a print profile with embedded pauses at layer height to achieve a multicolor look without an AMS. (Because adding pauses at layer heights isn't a significant enough change to have a separate print profile, according to the current guidelines, I have added it to the CAD data of the model. To access it, press the drop-down menu below the print profiles and select "Download STL/CAD Files." The file name is “ Pause at layer heights” )

Great model! The hardest part was printing the cannons, you should slow down the printer for better results. I also recommend changing the printing profile to save filament; I saved around 50g. Thanks for this!

Hey. I set the support z distance around 0,1 mm, and used a layer height of 0,28mm (which is the tallest for me), but honestly the biggest improvement was slowing down the printer, specially on upper layers. Try keeping most speeds under 150 or even 100 mm/s. Hope this helps

a good model. For the cannons on the X1C, I printed at 50 mm/s. I also adapted it to the support to put it on a Skadis board

the details are excellent the print is generally well thought out but I would use craft glue in some places unfortunately the assembly of the hull took a very long time and was strenuous because the connectors (H-pieces) did not fit at all
