Description

Most fly traps are for fruit flies.  This is an OUTDOOR trap for house flies - the kind that buzz around fast (not fruit flies). The key is rotten shrimp or something equally gross.  I wanted something I could easily make and then dispose of.  This only uses 6g of filament and prints in 23 minutes on an A1. Doesn't smell since the opening is tiny.

After printing cut a hole the size of the cone in the lid of a disposable container. I used a takeout soup container.

  • Fill about ½ way with water
  • Add a piece of shrimp, ideally raw
  • add a drop or two of dish soap
  • Use some glue to hold the cone in place
  • Place it in the sun to help it “marinate”
  • Should start noticing flies in about 2 days
  • Dispose of the whole thing (in a bag!!) once the layer of flies is pretty thick
