Description

Replacement wheel for the foldable table leg in some Trigano caravans. Solid ASA version or split version with TPU tire. Uses a 6 mm Ikea Ivar shelf pin as axle. Cheap, quick, reliable.

This little spare part belongs to a bigger family story. My caravan is a Caravelair Style 496 Family, and Caravelair itself is part of the Trigano group. Trigano is the parent brand behind a whole constellation of European caravan and motorhome names. If you have ever crossed paths with Adria, Sterckeman, Rubis or La Mancelle on the caravan side, or with Challenger, Chausson, Benimar, Elnagh, McLouis, Mobilvetta, Notin, Autostar, Rimor, Font Vendôme or even Karmann Mobil on the motorhome side, you have seen the Trigano universe in action. They even cover folding trailer tents through Jamet and Raclet, plus camping gear and accessories.

The foldable table leg in my Caravelair Style 496 Family caravan has a small roller at the bottom that keeps the leg from scraping the floor whenmoving the table. Mine went missing and instead of ordering an overpriced original part I designed a printable replacement. The axle is just a 6 mm by 24 mm metal rod, which can be perfectly substituted with Ikea Ivar shelf pins that are available as free spare parts.

The wheel is offered in two versions. The simple solid ASA version prints in one piece and is ready to use. The alternative split design consists of a rim in ASA and a TPU 95A tire for better grip and quieter rolling. In both cases two small printed washers are included and should be mounted on each side of the wheel.

Assembly is straightforward. Insert the pin through the wheel with washers on both sides, clip the unit back into the table leg, and the job is done. The repair is quick, durable, and essentially free. My wife still does not believe in the usefulness of the 3D printer, but at least our caravan floor is safe again.
