Summary
Want a realistic frag grenade with a handle that flies off when you pull the pin? This is the RGD-5 frag grenade, a common grenade during the cold war that is still in use today.
Background: The RGD-5 is a Soviet-designed, post-World War II anti-personnel fragmentation grenade that was officially accepted into service in 1954. It features a smooth, egg-shaped, sheet-steel body with no external fragmentation grooves and is filled with 110 grams of TNT. Inexpensive and reliable, the RGD-5 has been widely exported and remains in service with many armies in former Soviet bloc and Middle Eastern countries, with copies also being produced in other nations.
Bambu filaments used
- Silk+ Silver
- Polymaker Army Green (Amazon link)
Spring options
- Metal Spring – if you have a metal spring, even a pen spring will often work, then print the metal spring profile. It is designed to work with the Bambu Store's 0.5x7x12mm spring (linked lower on the page). If you use a pen spring, you can usually cut it in half and get two springs.
- No Flying Handle - if you don't want the handle to fly off and just want a grenade model, simply print the metal spring profile and don't put a spring in it.
Assembly
1. Start by connecting the top and bottom of the grenade with the provided pegs.
2. Then insert the silver plunger inside the topper, followed by the spring (see below)

3. Next, insert the topper into the grenade, and then twist 90 degrees to lock it in to place. Its far easier if you do this upside-down (see below)

4. And lastly, its pretty easy to use, but here's a quick GIF showing how to attach the handle:
