Seatpost Adapter – Alternative to Bottle Cage Mounting

Many bicycle locks come with mounts that are actually designed for mounting on the bottle cage bosses. This quickly leads to a problem:
👉 Either a lock or a water bottle – both at the same time is often not possible.

With this adapter, you can attach your lock mount to the seatpost instead. This keeps the bottle cage space free, the luggage rack undisturbed – and the lock is still securely, accessibly, and rattle-free mounted.

Advantages

• Universally applicable: suitable for all lock mounts with bottle cage bolt spacing
• More space: bottle and lock can be used in parallel
• Stable & quiet: no rattling like with some luggage rack mounts
• Easy installation: quickly attached, removable at any time

Print Recommendations

• Material: PLA CF (carbon fiber reinforced) for high stiffness
• Alternatively: PETG or ABS for more temperature resistance
• Layer height: 0.2 mm
• Infill: approx. 33%

Required Material

• 4x M5 x 16 screws
• 4x M5 nuts (possibly self-locking nuts for extra hold)

Assembly

 

1. Insert nuts into the 3D print and fix with a few drops of superglue if necessary
2. Screw the lock mount to the adapter
3. Remove the saddle from the frame (mark the height beforehand!)
4. Position the adapter on the seat tube and secure it with the screws
5. Reinsert the saddle and adjust to the marked height

Compatibility

• Suitable for seat tube diameter 31 mm
• Other sizes available upon request!

• Regularly check the secure fit and condition
• Replace the adapter in good time if visible wear occurs
