Stackable Filament Dry Box – Shelf-Sized Storage
Print Profile(6)

Bill of Materials
- 10x2mm Magnet x 1: Only needed for the swatches
Description
⚠️ Legacy Notice (Version 1.1)
This listing is for Version 1.1 (Legacy) of the Stackable Filament Dry Box. It’s staying up for anyone who has already printed v1 parts and wants to expand an existing stack.
Looking for the latest version? - V2
Version 2 is now available and includes a redesigned, stronger body and an improved hinged snap-lock lid (plus a roadmap for modular desiccant add-ons).
⚠️ Important: Version 2 is not backwards compatible with v1.x parts (lids and bodies won’t swap).
- If you’ve already printed v1.x, stick with this legacy version for compatibility.
- If you’re starting fresh, head to the Version 2 listing for the best experience going forward.
The last dry box you’ll need (my wife said so!)
Boost Me (for free)
Behold: Dry Box v2. Stronger body, better lid, fewer “why won’t you OPEN?!” moments. If it sparks joy (or at least reduces humidity rage), hit Boost and chuck in a photo/comment. It helps the model get seen and guides the next add-ons. 🙌
Designed for Bambu spool size, this stackable, airtight, space-saving dry box fits perfectly into filament rack systems and shelves built for Bambu boxes.
Overview
Each box stores one Bambu spool (other spools may fit, untested). Inside are three desiccant compartments that surround the spool, keeping beads close to the filament for effective drying.
The lid uses a TPU gasket for friction-fit sealing — no latches or screws needed. It works great, but I’m refining it to make it easier to remove without losing the seal (expect upgrades in future versions).
The front supports a standard round hygrometer, and there’s an optional slot for a filament swatch tile.

I use these shelves, which print beautifully:

Available Variants
To suit different setups and preferences:
- 🔹 Standard – With hygrometer + swatch slot
- 🔹 No Swatch – Clean front, hygrometer only
- 🔹 Minimal – No hygrometer, no swatch (fastest and lightest)
All versions share the same box dimensions and lid design, so you can mix and match in one rack system.
How to Use
No hardware required – just print, drop in desiccant beads, cover the beads with their lids, insert your spool, and you’re good to go.
✅ Steps:
- Print the box + lid (supports only needed for the hygrometer slot — if applicable).
- Pour silica beads into the three compartments.
- Snap the desiccant lids on.
- Insert your spool.
- (Optional) Insert hygrometer and/or swatch tile.
- Close the lid and stack.
That’s it — airtight, compact, and satisfying dry storage.
Hero Differentiators (Why this is different)
🧊 Shelf-perfect footprint – same size as a Bambu filament box, fits popular rack systems.
🧩 Stackable & modular – build a clean wall of organised filament, no cereal-container hacks.
💧 Keeps filament dry – TPU gasket + standard round hygrometer.
🎨 Customisable – optional swatch tile holder (magnet-ready).
🔮 Future-ready – roadmap includes sight windows, vents, and refined lid design.
Changelog
Update 1.5 - New Lid Design (1 Dec 2025)
Apologies for not updating this earlier, but been quite busy, but here is a picture of the prototype I'm printing today to make sure it ticks all the boxes (pun intended). This will introduce a snap lock lid (I will try and make an ‘upgrade’ version for the Version 1 and Version 1.1 boxes so they can benefit from the the snaplock upgrade)

Update 1.1 – Lighter, Faster, Better Fit (05 Oct 2025)
This version trims down weight and print time while keeping the same airtight performance.
🕒 Print time ≈ 8.7 h (↓ from 10.4 h)
⚖️ Material ≈ 396 g (PLA + TPU)
🧩 Parts: Lid, Box & Desiccant Lids (no hardware required)
Changes:
- Reduced wall thickness + geometry optimisation
- Refined gasket fit for smoother lid removal
- Minor visual polish for more consistent prints
👉 Previous version (v1.0) remains available for reference.
Future Roadmap
- Improved lid removal design
- Desiccant sight window
- Optional vent port for connection to a dehumidifier
✅ Tested with: PLA, PETG-HF, and TPU
📦 Typical RH: 10 – 30 % depending on beads and environment
