Description

The last water heater tool you'll ever need to print.

Stop struggling with heavy socket sets or rounding off plastic drain plugs in the cramped quarters of your RV's exterior shower or service bay. This redesigned V2 wrench is engineered specifically for the tight clearances of Suburban, Atwood, Dometic, and Girard water heaters.

🌟 New for V2:

  • Print-in-Place Swivel: Integrated 360° lanyard mount at the base of the handle. Keep the tool securely on your wrist while working without the cord tangling as you turn.
  • Fully Parametric: Includes the Fusion 360 (.f3d) source file. Use the "Customize" button to adjust the socket size for any unique or off-brand plugs.
  • Reinforced Torque-Neck: Optimized geometry to handle the high torque required for stubborn, calcified Suburban anode rods.

ā±ļø IMPORTANT: Print the Fitment Test First!

Don't waste filament! Plate 2 contains a 5-minute "Fitment Gauge." Use this to verify your printer's tolerances and your plug size before committing to the full high-strength tool.

šŸ“‹ Compatibility Guide:

  • 27mm (1-1/16"): Standard for Suburban Anode Rods.
  • 24mm (15/16"): Standard for Atwood / Dometic Nylon Plugs.
  • 22.25mm (7/8"): Common for Girard / Furrion Tankless Drain Valves.

āš™ļø Recommended Print Settings:

  • Material: PETG or ASA is highly recommended. (Standard PLA may soften in a hot RV storage bay during summer).
  • Walls/Perimeters: 6 Walls (Crucial for structural integrity under torque).
  • Infill: 40% (Gyroid recommended).
  • Orientation: This model is designed to be printed with the handle-end on the build plate. No supports are required!

šŸ› ļø Professional Customization (Fusion 360)

Unlike simple "stretched" STLs, this model was built from the ground up as a True Parametric Design. I have included the original Fusion 360 (.f3d) source file for the community.

  • Easy Customization: Use the "Customize" button on MakerWorld to generate a custom 3MF/STL by simply entering your plug size in millimeters.
  • Pro-User Access: Download the .f3d file to modify the handle length, change the swivel tolerances, or add your own RV club logo in Fusion 360.
  • Clean Geometry: All sketches are fully constrained and driven by user parameters to ensure the wrench remains structurally sound at any size.

ā¤ļø Support the Project

As an Ontario-based RV enthusiast, I designed this tool to solve a real-world problem at the campsite. If this model saved your weekend:

  • šŸš€ Post a "Make": Photos are the best way to help others find this tool!
  • ⚔ Boost: If you find this useful, a "Boost" goes a long way toward supporting future RV maintenance designs.

I am new to all of this, so please bare with me. If I need to make this into a smaller socket size does the file allow for that?

Hello, and welcome to 3D printing! This model only prints a 27mm wrench. Although I have thought about redoing this model in Fusion360 so I can upload it and others can then set what size of socket they need. That ability with Fusion360 was released just after I created this model in OnShape or I'd have done it already.

Thank you for the reply. I do not know how to use any of that lol. I’ve been watching YouTube videos as I’m on day 3 of my journey. I’m looking for a 7/8ā€. then I found what I need for $11 on Amazon lol.

I'm glad you found something that works for you! I did finally get the redesign done. I remade the 1 1/16" version, added a 15/16" and 7/8" version. Also added the ability to customize completely.
