I’ve always loved the Dummy 13, but I wanted to push the concept further by creating a fully print-in-place version. This redesign keeps the exact same joint layout as the original but prints in one piece — no assembly required.
On my previous print-in-place Dummy 13, one of the most common pieces of feedback was about the joint strength. This time, I went back to the drawing board and designed an entirely new model with joints that are not only much stronger, but also easier to print while still requiring zero post-assembly work.
In addition to durability, I’ve also reworked several joints to give the dummy a more human-like range of motion, making it more versatile and natural in movement.
Notes
- This model is not a remix. None of Soozafone’s original Dummy 13 files were used. Every single part was modeled from scratch in Fusion 360, with the exception of the hands, which I sculpted in Blender with some help from AI. While the design is clearly inspired by Dummy 13, the lack of reused files means it does not need to be classified as a remix. (If anyone knows otherwise, please let me know in the comments!)
- Because this is a print-in-place design, I used a 0.3 mm clearance between ball joints and their casings. This makes articulation smooth straight off the printer, but it does mean the figure won’t hold poses quite as firmly as the original Dummy 13.
