Model Overview and Functionality

I present a highly functional and robust 3D model of a sink strainer/drainer basket designed for installation in standard kitchen sink drain openings. This model is engineered to effectively catch food scraps and debris, preventing clogs in your plumbing while allowing water to flow freely.

The design features a distinctive shallow basket with vertical slits/fins in the lower section, ensuring maximum filtering efficiency.

Key Features and Design

  • Effective Filtration: Fine vertical fins/slats in the lower part efficiently trap small food particles.
  • Easy Installation: The wide top rim (with a diameter of 115 mm) ensures stable seating in the sink opening.
  • Standard Dimensions: The model is precisely engineered according to the technical drawing, ensuring compatibility with many common sink systems.
  • Optimal Dimensions (Based on Drawing):
    • Outer Rim Diameter: 115 mm
    • Total Height: 70 mm
    • Height above sink surface (rim thickness): 4 mm
    • Filtering Chamber Diameter: 80 mm
    • Base/Mesh Diameter: 68 mm
    • Mounting Depth (below rim): 34 mm
  • Locking Tabs: Two small side tabs aid in stabilizing the strainer in the correct position.

3D Printing Recommendations

For maximum durability, hygiene, and water resistance, the following print settings are recommended:

  • Material: PETG is highly recommended due to its resistance to moisture, heat, and detergents. ASA/ABS is also a good choice. PLA is an option but may deform when exposed to very hot water.
  • Layer Height: 0.15 mm – 0.20 mm for good detail and quality.
  • Infill: 20-30% (Grid or Gyroid pattern).
  • Perimeters (Wall Lines): Increase the count to 4-5 for maximum water tightness and strength.
  • Supports: Required under the inner edges of the rim and underneath the top ring. Use supports with a conservative overhang angle (e.g., 45 degrees).

Let me know if you need any adjustments to this description!
