Description

A simple guitar string winder. Requires no glue or hardware.

I made some other 3d printed string winders and didn't love them, so I designed my own.

Choose one of the three knurl type handles and go to town.

had to edit the file a bit to make 2 of the grips to work. but great design. glued together well

If you want a string winder, should you print this? Yes. I found that only one of the handles actually fitted and it was a touch too short for my liking but that's nothing that can't be fixed by tinkering with the model a little. I'd also change the size of the "cup" to be a little smaller but I've probably just got smallish machine heads. Equally I'd make it a little larger for bass. As a whole I'm happy with the print.

My first attempt was too tight in the handle grip part for free rotation, but I scaled the x and y up by a few percent and it's perfect!

The tool is nice but I had to tune the size of parts to be able to assemble them together.

The printing went well, on the other hand the 1st tube did not stay in place, and one of the other tubes remains stuck and does not turn! the base is broken and unusable. so I can't say for the last tube! what a shame.

Like a lot of people mentioned before, the models do not work out of the box. The diameters of two of the three tubes do not match the hub diameter. I had to rework it with a drill to make it work. Once that is done, it works on my Strat.

I had to sand the tube a bit where the rotating part enters but aside from that very solid and quick to print it took a few minutes impressive model/profile a 10
