Description
DripGrip V. 2.0 - 3D printed umbrella Holder for Backpack Strap
Let me introduce the new Umbrella Holder 2.0 ☔. Since the first model caught your attention, you will love this new version even more!
This model solves one issue in particular: it can adapt to different umbrella diameters. This allows me to have a versatile device that I mount once on my backpack 🎒 and never need to remove again.
The second focus was on size 📏: the amount of filament used has been cut in half and, as a result, the overall bulk has been reduced so much that it almost blends in with the details of the backpack. The two screw holes have been moved to the back, so as not to compromise the external aesthetics.
The umbrella locking mechanism has also been redesigned: it is now made of two independent parts that close with the help of two small magnets 🧲(I use the magnets from Gizeh rolling paper packs kit). This has provided a more stable grip, preventing the umbrella from detaching as sometimes happened with the previous version ✅.
Attaching the umbrella may feel slightly less immediate than with the previous version, but I can assure you it’s just a matter of practice ⏳ — the same goes for detaching it.
For the instructions on how to use it, I’m including the link to the previous umbrella holder, where the photos show how to snap it into place:
