Description

This is the short, rubbery “vented” strain relief block that protects the cord from severe bending as it exits the mouse.

It is a replacement part for an original Apple ADB mouse—the squarish angled version, not the Apple Designs mouse. Maybe it would work there too, but I don’t have one.

I designed this for a cord replacement on a Mac Effects clear case re-shell. After putting my SE/30 into their excellent clear case, I also updated the accompanying mouse. You transfer the guts of the mouse into the clear shell, but that usually includes the cord (which is beige). I wanted a clear cord, but needed to make it from scratch. The ADB connector is easy enough, but I needed a replacement strain relief. I printed in black TPU to match the connector. This saves me from having to rip off the beige one from the original cord.

The design is based on careful measurements of the original and uses a flat bottom for easy printing, and snugly accommodates a 3.8mm replacement cord, though you could probably push a 4.1 mm cord through.

Printed using a Bambu Lab P1S using Overture TPU at .1mm layer heights, no supports. Perfect print first time.
