Feather vase —— Dream Catcher

I paused for a spell in a quiet Australian town, where by chance I stumbled upon an emu sanctuary. No sign marked the entrance; the place seemed to hide itself from the world. Then a kindly old gatekeeper revealed a secret path and ushered us inside, granting us a rare, close-up moment with the shy emus, their dark eyes glinting with curiosity.

As we were about to leave, he pressed three feathers into our hands. “There’s an old Aboriginal saying,” he murmured, “if you find an emu feather, good fortune will surely follow.”

Longing to honor the gift, yet finding no perfect way to display it, I designed two feather vases — Dreamcatcher and Echo of Fortune — as vessels for memory and luck. May these creations carry a little of that magic to you as well, and may your prints flow smooth and true.
