This is my second model uploaded on MakerWorld! Thank you to the great people over at the Room & Board discord for their help with this project!
My goal for this project was to retain the original insert and create something that would allow for rapid setup.
The 'Core Boxes' house the cards you get to draft from. Just take those 6 out and set them on the table. Quick setup, and saves table space.
I then designed a simple box for the Upgrades. I considered a vertical card stand but decided against it, since you've still gotta pull the cards out and set ‘em up either way. Would save table space, but not time. If that’s something you need, let me know and I'll make something.
I realized early that some simple token storage would be helpful. I had just printed an insert for Steam Power, so I resized those token trays to use for this game. Steam Power Deluxe Insert / Organizer by Jerald MakerWorld: Download Free 3D Models (I'm a newbie to attribution, so… Yeah. that might not be okay. But since this will probably have like, 4 downloads I'm not too worried about it.).
Next I decided to upgrade the tokens - so took a pass at the credits and damage tokens. For the credits, I think they'd look best with some contrasting silk filament. I didn't have much to choose from so never got ones looking great.
And then I finished up this project by creating a ‘dual layer player board’ overlay.
It all fits in the box as shown.
What you need to print for a full playset for solo play:
- Print one of each plate EXCEPT for the player board overlays. Be sure to choose the SILVER or GOLD overlay for your preferred side of the player board, and print only those.
What you need to print for a full playset for 2 players:
- Print one of each plate!
Future proof?
I had set out trying to leave extra room in the box for possible future expansions. There is extra room in each of the card trays. However, there is not a lot of extra room in the original insert if additional bosses, locations, or characters are added.
I would say this design is not future proof, but could be modified without wasting any of the original prints. (You'd need to toss the original insert, print out spacers / holders for the remaining cards.)
What Filament did I use?
I used a Flashforge gun metal silk filament my wife had bought me. I think any silk filament in that blue-ish metallic purple family would be stellar. I'd imagine Bambu has something that would look great.
