Description

This is a replacement clip and button for a kid's drink bottle. This one was from Smiggle (Australia) but may be similar or the same as bottles sold elsewhere. The bottle itself is metal and double-walled, so it annoyed me that a single broken plastic part rendered the bottle useless, as the straw no longer seals if not held down.

I added my daughters initials to the front of the button in the photos - debossed by 0.4mm - but I left the button here plain. You could do the same using the text shape modifiers directly in Bambu Studio.

The part prints in two pieces for strength and to avoid supports, although I have modelled a manual support directly under the hook. Make sure you print using a 0.2mm layer height so this works correctly. Once printed, remove the support from under the hook and use a dab of super glue to attach the button to the main clip.

To assemble into the bottle, remove the top of the bottle lid from the bottom of the lid - in my photos, this is the blue part (top) and red part (bottom). A thin, blunt metal butter knife inserted between the parts can help force the clips holding them together apart. Remove the broken retaining clip, but hold onto the small spring behind the button! Place the spring behind the new button, put the retaining clip over the straw and reassemble the top and bottom carefully. The clips should snap back into place.
