- Material choice:
- PLA: easy to print, good dimensional accuracy, suitable for decorative or less stressed applications.
- PETG (recommended): significantly higher stability, tougher and more break-resistant – ideal for durable, mechanically stressed connections.
- Printing tip:
- Absolutely print lying down! Horizontal layer orientation significantly improves fracture resistance.
- When printing upright (standing), weak points are created along the layer lines, which can break very quickly under shear stress.
- Features:
- Standard diameter, various lengths available
- Easy printing without support structures
- Reusable and re-printable at any time
- Particularly authentic look in wood filament or brown PLA/PETG
👉 Clear recommendation: For all applications where stability is crucial, the dowels should definitely be printed from PETG and lying down.
