Description

This is a detailed, four-color anatomical model of a human kidney, designed to sit on a 2x2 Gridfinity base. It's a great display piece for a doctor's office, a learning tool for students, or a unique addition to any anatomy enthusiast's collection.

The model is designed for multi-color printing with an AMS.

Features:

  • Magnetic Enclosure: The model is split into two halves and can be closed using 6x2mm magnets. This allows you to open it up to view the internal structures.
  • Gridfinity Base: Sits perfectly on a 2x2 Gridfinity base for easy organization and display.

Post-Processing and Assembly Instructions

This model explicitly requires some post-processing for a perfect finish and functionality. Please read these steps carefully:

  1. Support Removal: After printing, the back of the kidney will have residue from the support structures. You will need to carefully remove this using sandpaper. For a cleaner finish, a heat gun can be used to gently treat the surface and remove any white marks from sanding. The front of the kidney is best printed upright so the finish is better.
  2. Magnet Holes: If you want to use magnets, you may need to slightly widen the holes. Depending on your printer's calibration, the fit can be very tight. A small tool like an electric nail file or a drill bit of the appropriate size can be used to carefully enlarge the slots until the magnets press-fit snugly. I used some glue as well.
  3. Attaching to Base: Glue is necessary to securely attach the kidney model to the Gridfinity base. A small amount of super glue or epoxy will work perfectly.

This model is part of the growing "Gridfinity Anatomy" series. You can explore the complete collection here: https://makerworld.com/de/collections/10042958-gridfinity-anatomy
