Description

ATTENTION: THIS IS A PROTOTYPE, AND THOUGH FUNCTIONAL, IT IS NOT PERFECT. THIS IS A VERY DIFFICULT PRINT, AND MAY REQUIRE SOME RE-PRINTS. THIS MODEL REQUIRES BREAKAWAY SUPPORT MATERIAL, AND PARTS CAN BE DELICATE WHEN NOT ASSEMBLED. DO NOT GO IN THE REVIEWS SAYING THINGS THAT I HAVE ALREADY MENTIONED ABOVE. IT DOES NOT HELP. Other than that, you're good. PRINT AT YOUR OWN RISK! FULL VERSION WILL BE OUT IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS.

So, you read everything above and still want to print this. I see how it is. Well, since you're here, I might as well tell you every little detail on how to print and assemble this model.

This design is a set for making computers and further deepening/learning about logic gates. Logic gates are what make your computers work. As of posting this model, there are 4 different logic gates in the set. This includes the NOR, NAND, NOT, and Buffer gates. I have taken a couple months to really get this model working, and I hope you guys like it as much as my other models. For this project I have also invented completely new mechanisms to make this work (I call it the double input gear- the gear that looks like a plus sign and has a ratchet underneath). This model is quite a challenge to print, so good luck, and I will put every detail to help you along when making this for yourself.

Extra tips for printing and assembling (will be expanded in the future)

I FORGOT TO MENTION IN THE VIDEO: IN THE NOR GATE, KEEP THE SET OF ANTI-CLOCKWISE GEARS, BUT MAKE THE OUTPUT/CENTER GEAR GO CLOCKWISE. SAME GOES FOR THE NAND GATE, BUT OPPOSITE.

I WILL ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS ASKED IN THE COMMENTS ABOUT THE PROCESS.

  • Wash the build plate before printing
  • push pins from underneath when taking logic gates off the base plate.
  • Use allen key to push out the supports
  • Forgot to mention in video: for the input lever thing, do the same thing as the buffer, but swap it out with the lever piece.
