Description

UPDATE 16th Feb 2025 - Added a new print profile with rounded edges all round.  This may help to minimise tearing of bags.

This is the little clip that can. I wanted something a lot more sturdy to close my filament bags as the clips that came with my bags snapped after a few uses. This clip can close pretty much all bags though. It's been tested on Ikea bags and also random single line bags with bits and pieces ordered online.

This design allows for much easier location of the clip onto the bag by sliding it on at 90 degrees to the opening. Then rotate the clip and it will automatically line up with the closing edges of the bag.

All you have to do then is squeeze and pull.

Printed in PLA with around 8g of filament, 15% infill and took around 20 minutes to print. I didn't need a brim or supports.

I hope you find it useful and as always please feel free to leave any comments or suggestions.

The edges that rub/run up against the bag need to be radiused. The current sharp, square edges ripped holes in my heavy duty bags. I used a scraper blade to take off the sharp edges and now it works good.

Do you mean the top and bottom surface edges as the clip prints on the bed? Could you attach a picture and circle the edges you mean. If so I can go back to my cad files and round those edges and upload a new print profile for you.

I have rounded all the edges with a 1mm fillet on the outsides and 0.5mm fillet on the edges of the internal parts so there are no sharp edges now. I am just printing and testing on peanuts bag to make sure it works and then I'll upload a new print profile - please let me know if it fixes the issue and I'm sorry it shredded your bags :(

So glad you like it. I was just so tired of not being able to get the zip locks to line up correctly and then trying to close the bag and it just re-open again as I went. I liken this to those that do that special wrapping paper slice without actually cutting with the scissors!

Other Issues:This device damaged my bag as I zipped it closed. Was wanting something a little larger for my hands than what came with the filament storage bags.

Oh no. I am sorry to hear that. What type of bag is it? Which manufacturer. I can try and design one for you that works with your bags

It's one of the filament storage bags I got from Amazon. Don't remember the manufacturer anymore. From the photos on Amazon, they all look the same. Clear bag with a blue zipper. I'm sure I just picked one that was decently priced and had a good rating. But they all come with a small white zipper that easily slips out of my hands when zipping the bag close. I was looking for a larger one to give try. Found one on Amazon that used rollers that pressed against the bag to close the zipper.

I had another user have the same issue - I am testing a new print profile with the edges rounded to hopefully fix the issue. I am just printing and testing my new design and will upload a new print profile once I have confirmed it works. Once again, I am sorry it ripped your bags :(

I slide the clip on the left of the bag and then rotate 90 degrees, squeeze and push across the top of the bag. Some bags you cannot slide onto the left and rotate, in that case slide the clip vertically down either top edge, squeeze and push across to the other side. I hope that helps!
